New Mexico Trial Lawyer  ·  Former Federal Prosecutor  ·  Fearless Advocate for the Injured

When everything is on the line — your health, your family, your future — you need a lawyer who has already stood in the arena.

Alexander F. Flores is a trial attorney based in New Mexico who represents individuals and families in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, wildfire litigation, and complex federal claims. He brings a rare combination of experience: former federal prosecutor, military judge advocate, and seasoned trial lawyer who has handled some of the most serious cases in the justice system.

Today, Alex focuses that experience on one mission: helping people stand up to powerful defendants — and win.

From Federal Prosecutor to Plaintiff’s Advocate

Before entering private practice, Alex served as a Supervisory Assistant United States Attorney in the District of New Mexico, where he prosecuted violent crimes including homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and firearms offenses. He also co-led efforts addressing crime in Indian Country, working closely with tribal communities to improve public safety and accountability.

Over the course of his federal career, Alex completed 17 federal jury trials, developing a reputation for disciplined preparation, courtroom command, and results in high-pressure litigation.

Where insurance companies and corporate defendants bring aggressive defense strategies, Alex brings the mindset and experience of a federal trial lawyer who has already faced — and defeated — well-resourced opponents.

Few personal injury attorneys have spent years inside the federal justice system building cases from the ground up — working with investigators, experts, and complex evidence. Alex has. That background gives him a strategic advantage in civil litigation:

  • He knows how cases are built, challenged, and defended at the highest level
  • He understands how opposing counsel evaluates risk and exposure
  • He prepares every case with trial in mind — not just settlement

This approach is particularly critical in catastrophic injury, wrongful death, trucking accidents, and wildfire litigation, where the stakes are highest and the opposition is strongest.

Alex is based in Albuquerque and represents clients across New Mexico, including Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and rural and tribal communities throughout the state. His work reflects a deep understanding of New Mexico — its people, its communities, and the unique challenges they face after serious injuries.

At the same time, his experience in federal court and complex litigation gives him a national-level perspective — particularly valuable in cases involving insurance companies or governmental entities.

Military Leadership and Service

In addition to his civilian legal career, Alex serves as a Judge Advocate in the New Mexico Air National Guard, continuing a commitment to public service and leadership. This follows over a dozen years serving in uniform as a United States Marine Corps Officer.

Military service has shaped his approach to law — discipline under pressure, mission-focused execution, and commitment to those he serves. These values carry directly into his representation of clients, especially when navigating complex, high-stakes cases.

For Clients: What You Can Expect

  • Direct, honest communication — you’ll always know where your case stands
  • Thorough case preparation built around evidence and expert testimony
  • A lawyer who is ready for trial if that’s what your case requires
  • A commitment to maximizing recovery — not quick settlements

He understands that behind every case is a person or family dealing with real consequences — and he treats every case accordingly.

Ready to Discuss Your Case?

If you or someone you love has been seriously injured in a collision, you deserve an attorney who prepares to win — not just settle. Consultations are free and confidential. You pay nothing unless I recover compensation for you.

What You Should Know Before You Hire an Injury Lawyer

When you’re hurt, you’re not just choosing a website—you’re choosing a person and a team who will carry your case for months (sometimes longer). My role is to protect you from insurance pressure, document the real impact of your injuries, and build the case as if it may need to be tried—so you’re never negotiating from weakness.

My Focus

I focus on serious injury and wrongful death claims arising from vehicle collisions and other negligence throughout New Mexico. I work with the resources of a national firm—Singleton Schreiber—while remaining personally accessible, so clients can talk to me, not just a call center.

I have been licensed to practice law in New Mexico since 2013 and work primarily on automobile and trucking collision cases, as well as motorcycle, pedestrian, and other serious injury matters.

How My Team Builds Injury Cases

Every case starts with evidence preservation. We work to secure crash reports, photographs, surveillance footage, black box and EDR data (in trucking cases), witness statements, medical records, and any other documentation that establishes what happened and why.

From there, we build the medical and economic narrative—documenting not just what you’ve been through, but what the injury means for your life going forward. We prepare every case as if it will go to trial, which puts us in the strongest possible position if and when the insurer needs to be pushed.

Litigation Track Record

Alex built his litigation skills in federal court — one of the most demanding arenas in the legal system. As a federal prosecutor, he tried cases to verdict before juries, managed complex evidence, retained and examined expert witnesses, and argued under strict procedural rules. Those habits carry directly into his personal injury practice.

He does not take a settlement-first approach. He evaluates every case by asking what a jury would need to understand and believe — because that analysis also shapes what insurance adjusters are willing to offer.

Federal Court

Multiple jury trials to verdict in United States District Court, District of New Mexico.

Complex Civil Matters

Catastrophic injury cases involving commercial trucking, highway collisions, and government entities throughout New Mexico.

Wrongful Death

Cases on behalf of surviving family members following fatal collisions and other acts of negligence across New Mexico.

Individual case results and settlement values will be published as cases resolve, consistent with New Mexico Rules of Professional Conduct governing the description of attorney results.

FAQs About Working With Alex Flores

How long has Alex Flores been practicing personal injury law?

Alex has been licensed in New Mexico since 2013 — giving him more than a decade as a licensed attorney. Before joining Singleton Schreiber, he spent those years as a federal prosecutor and Marine Corps Judge Advocate, completing 17 federal jury trials and prosecuting nearly 200 federal felony cases. He now brings that trial-tested depth exclusively to representing injured New Mexicans.

Is Alex Flores affiliated with a larger firm?

Yes. Alex serves as Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber, a national personal injury firm, while maintaining direct, personal access for New Mexico clients.

What types of cases does Alex handle?

Primarily automobile and trucking collisions, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian and bicycle crashes, wrongful death, slip and fall, and medical malpractice throughout New Mexico.

Does Alex accept referrals from other attorneys?

Yes. We welcome referrals and co-counsel relationships from New Mexico and out-of-state attorneys. Call and ask for Alex to discuss the specifics.

Do I need a lawyer after a car accident in New Mexico?

Not always — but in any accident involving significant injury, disputed liability, commercial vehicles, or an unresponsive insurer, an attorney materially improves your outcome. Insurance companies are represented by professionals whose job is to minimize your payout. Having a trial-ready lawyer levels the playing field from day one.

How much does a personal injury lawyer cost?

Nothing upfront. Personal injury attorneys work on contingency — meaning you pay no fees unless and until your case resolves with a recovery. At Singleton Schreiber, the fee structure is explained clearly before you sign anything. There is no cost to speak with Alex about your case.

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in New Mexico?

Generally, three years from the date of injury under New Mexico’s statute of limitations (NMSA § 37-1-8). However, shorter deadlines apply to claims against government entities — sometimes as little as 90 days to file a notice of claim. Do not wait. Evidence disappears, witnesses move on, and missed deadlines can permanently bar your recovery.

Will I have to go to court?

Most personal injury cases settle before trial. But the cases that settle for the most money are the ones prepared as if they won’t. Alex builds every case trial-ready from the start — which puts you in the strongest negotiating position and ensures you’re never forced into a bad settlement because you’re not ready to go to court.
